INFORMATIONAL SUBSTANCES 1)5)
← Back
Stafford BEER emphasizes the importance of Candice PERT discovery that peptides acting as opiate receptors are present all over the body (Molecules of emotions"_ (1999, p. 452-54)
He argues that this discovery of what he calls "informational substances" leads to the unification or at least the bridging between neuroscience, endocrinology and inmunology.
In the words of C. PERT herself: "The way in which peptides circulate through the body, founding their target receptors in regions far more distant than had ever previously been throught possible, made the brain communication system ressemble the endocrine system, whose hormones can travel the length and breadth of our bodies: the brain is like a bag of hormones!"(as quoted by S. BEER)
