VARIABLE (Critical) 2)
← Back
A variable that must be maintained between a specific maximum and minimum.
If this condition is not respected the result is generally the destruction of the system. Different interconnected critical variables may regulate reciprocally, as for example in ASHBY's homeostat, endowed with ultrastability. As expressed by St. KAUFFMAN: "Those variables must be kept in bounds by the coordinated dynamical behavior of the system coupled to its environment" (1993, p.524).
